Charms are distinguished from transfigurations in that a charm adds or changes properties of an object; it focuses on altering what the object does as opposed to what the object is. Alchemy is a branch of magic and an ancient science concerned with the study of the four basic elements, as well as the study of the transmutation of substances; it is thus intimately connected with potion-making, chemistry and transformation magic. ASTRONOMY »constellations Monday evenings from eight o'clock to ten-thirty PM. Astronomy is a branch of magic that studies stars and the movement of planets. It is a subject where the use of practical magic during lessons isn't necessary. [♬]	DOUBLE POTIONS »felix felicis Wednesday morning from nine o'clock to twelve noon. Potions are brewed from ingredients with magical properties. Potions can be used as medicine, lethal poison, or give the drinker any effect from strength enhancement to immunity to flames. Potions are not necessarily used by drinking, as some can be applied by physical contact or create an effect simply by being created, such as the Regeneration Potion. [♬]
DEFENCE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS »cruciatus curse Thursday morning from nine o'clock to ten-thirty AM. Friday afternoon from three o'clock to four-thirty PM. Defence Against the Dark Arts is a core class in which students learn how to magically defend themselves against Dark Creatures, Dark Arts, and other dark charms. Offensive magic is also taught in this class, such as how to duel, which requires the use of both offensive and defensive magic. Transfiguration is a branch of magic that focuses on the alteration of the form or appearance of an object, via the alteration of the object's molecular structure. Transfiguration can be done to most (if not all) objects and, as with most forms of magic, it includes Transfiguration spells. [♬]
SUIMANCY »aparecium Wednesday afternoon from three o'clock to four-thirty PM. Thursday morning from ten-thirty o'clock to twelve noon. A nonverbal spell is a spell which is performed without saying the incantation out loud. Performing spells non-verbally is very difficult and requires a good deal of practice, as it requires concentration and mental discipline alone. [♬]
